The end of the year is near; this is usually the time to reflect on our goals and shortcomings, accomplishments and failures to better assist us in making the upcoming year’s resolutions. What could be better than a year’s worth of trials to assess of why personal and professional goals aren’t met? Many people feel as if they are lost or adrift without goals, so we can only remember or imagine what it feels like to not meet them. Goal setting is a powerful process for thinking about your ideal future, and for motivating yourself to turn your vision of this future into reality. The process of setting goals helps you choose where you want to go in life. By knowing exactly what you want to achieve, you know where you have to concentrate your efforts. You’ll also quickly spot the distractions that can, so easily, lead you astray form the path that you want to go down. Going over where you fell short throughout the year gives you a better assessment to making stronger objectives to support your goals. It also helps prevent from you from allowing distractions, and gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation. And let’s not forget the self-confidence of actually accomplishing the goal itself.
